Meet the Doctors

 Landon M. Oka, DDS

Dr. Oka was born and raised on the island of Oahu. He graduated high school from Damien Memorial School and attended Oregon State University, where he received his Bachelor's degree in Bio-Medical Science. He then journeyed out to the mid-west for dental school and graduated from Indiana University's School of Dentistry. Being the local boy he always was, he knew he was meant to practice back home and moved back to Oahu immediately after graduation.

Dr. Oka went under Dr. Tanaka's wing in 2021 and has been a part of the office ever since! Throughout his time here, Dr. Oka was able to attend a 3-day Live Surgical Implant Course at the Implant Education Company and also offers surgical and implant procedures here in the office. He follows in Dr. Tanaka's footsteps with Continuing Education to ensure that the patients have nothing but exceptional care all around. In December 2022, Dr. Oka purchased the practice from Dr. Tanaka and hopes to carry on his dental legacy.

Dr. Oka is also part of the Hawaii Young Dentist Group with the Hawaii Dental Association and enjoys volunteering at local dental community events. Dr. Oka also enjoys diving, fishing, making trouble to his wife, Dawn, and spending time with his family and friends. During wrestling season, you can also catch him assistant coaching with Damien Memorial School!

Paul K. Tanaka, DDS

Dr. Tanaka is married to his fun-loving wife, Doris.  They are blessed with two daughters, Danielle  and Erin.  Dr. Tanaka enjoys fishing and cooking with his smokers.

Dr. Tanaka graduated from St. Louis High School in 1975 and attended the University of Southern California where he earned a B.S. degree in Biology.  He almost went into teaching, but his love for science and the urge to express himself with his hands led him to pursue a career in dentistry.

Dr. Tanaka graduated from the USC Dental School in 1983.  He obtained licenses in both California and Hawaii that same year.

Continuing education is very important to Dr. Tanaka.  For this reason, he is a member of the Seattle Study Club, where the latest developments in dentistry are presented through lectures and hands on classes.  He is also a member of the Hawaii and American Dental Association.

In April of 1999, Dr. Tanaka took his dental practice to a much higher level of excellence as he committed himself to becoming one of the top 5% of the dentist in the nation to have completed the Masters Aesthetic Program, Full Mouth Rehabilitation, and the Practical Occlusion Course at the Las Vegas Institute.  This institute leads the world of post graduates in the advance studies of Cosmetic  and Advanced Dentistry.

In November of 2007, Dr. Tanaka became one of the very few dentist in Hawaii to use the CEREC technology.  Computerized dentistry is a tremendous advancement in modern dentistry.  "The one appointment crown" (made by the use of CEREC technology) is now a standard procedure in our office.

It’s hard to imagine any spare time for Dr. Tanaka.  When it does exist, Dr. Tanaka loves to fish!  Whatever fish story you may have, Dr. Tanaka can top it (even if it’s not true).   To relax, he may play the piano, play basketball, cook different things with his smokers or just sit and enjoy Danielle and Erin’s pet box turtles. He makes yummy pupus like crispy jerky and boiled peanuts!
